Our cross represents the bravery, heroism and honour of our profession. The Iron Cross was originally established in 1813 during the Franco-Prussian war. It was awarded without regard for nationality or social class to combatants and non-combatants for acts of bravery, heroism and honour. The Blue background of our cross is the colour of our profession and it dates back to the first Praetorian Guard of Rome. The gold and silver borders represent that of the shields that were carried by our Praetorian predecessors and of course of those worn on our uniforms today.
The Roman helmet symbolizes the first real law enforcement group the "Praetorian Guard" established in Rome by Caesar Augustus in 27 BC. The Praetorian Guard was formed from the ranks of Rome's famed Legions, producing an elite unit, which protected the Emperor, Rome and its citizens.
The colour purple of the helmet plume represents the sovereignty
of our rank, dignity, and favour, within society.
The thin blue line represents the Law Enforcement officers who "hold the line" between, peace and anarchy and, without which peace and prosperity could not be maintained.
The black line under the blue represents, those Officers whom we mourn because they have given the ultimate sacrifice to protect and serve.
