Three vehicles have been 'added' to this sketch in order to show how resultant vehicle positions can be recorded on the sketch plan. Measurements would be taken by either the fixed point method or reference line method and the results noted on the side of the paper along with the exhibit number of the police officer completing the sketch.
In this example V1 has emerged from the junction into the direct path of the motorcycle - V2. V3 could be involved depending on the circumstances i.e. it may have 'flashed' it's headlights to V1 prior to leaving the junction or it may be a vital witness to the collision or even the manner of driving regarding the motorcycle.
